Purpose
This page states HEROES VR Adventures' age-eligibility, supervision, and sanitation requirements for all programs, including charter enrichment classes and field trips. It reflects a documented, published, and staff-enforced safety program in effect at our Roseville facility and on all mobile deployments.

Age Eligibility
Every guest is placed in one of three tiers. The tier decides the experience, the equipment, and whether an adult has to be in the session.
Standard Experiences
Ages 8 and upDesigned for independent headset use: comfortable fit, menu navigation, and prompt reading.
Age 8 is our published guidance. Staff may admit a confident 7-year-old at their discretion after assessment.Junior HEROES
Ages 4–7Controller-free experiences driven by head movement and physical presence.

Supervision & Safety Program
Six standing practices apply to every session we run, for every guest, at the venue and in the field.
Spectator Monitors
All in-headset content is displayed in real time on external monitors. Teachers, parents, and staff can see exactly what each student is experiencing at all times — nothing is hidden.
Content Controls
Content filters restrict access to more intense experiences for younger or more sensitive guests, and guides match content to each group before play begins.
Active Guide Supervision
Trained HEROES guides orient every guest, monitor play areas throughout each session, check in with participants, and intervene immediately if a guest approaches a boundary or appears uncomfortable.
Break Protocol
Breaks are available at any time. Any guest reporting eye strain, dizziness, or discomfort is removed from the headset immediately, seated, and offered water before deciding whether to resume.
Purpose-Built Play Spaces
Open, padded areas with no furniture, cords, or glass surfaces — a physical safety profile categorically better than home VR use.
Sanitation Protocol
Headsets and controllers are sanitized between users as standing operating procedure, including wiping headset and controller contact points with a skin-safe disinfectant solution between each use.
Fewer than 2% of our guests experience meaningful motion discomfort — and when they do, the break protocol above takes over immediately.
Research Grounding
The American Academy of Ophthalmology, in guidance cited by the American Academy of Pediatrics, states there is no reason to be concerned that VR headsets damage children's eye development, health, or function.
Published research on children's VR use finds that brief, supervised sessions are well tolerated, with effects limited to temporary eye fatigue or mild disorientation that resolves quickly after headset removal.
Our operating model — short, supervised, occasional sessions with age-appropriate content and engaged adults present — is built directly on that evidence.
